'Welcome to the neighbourhood, ****': Family's shock greeting
MOVING into a new home is supposed to be the start of new beginnings, completing the Australian dream or retiring in comfort.
But it was the complete opposite for one Peregian Springs family who were given a welcoming of the lowest order to a home they hadn't even moved into.
Yesterday morning, family were horrified to find two bricks had been thrown through their windows and a note left with the words "welcome to the neighbourhood c***" to go with it.
Laura Di Mambro posted her disgust and shock that it happened over Christmas to a community board.
"We are absolutely disgusted and appalled that anyone could maliciously do damage to someone else's property and at Christmas?" she wrote.
"We think it happened on Boxing Day night."
Ms Di Mambro hinted that this was not an unusually occurrence in the region.
"We have been residents here at Peregian Springs for nearly 10 years and are disgusted at what's happening in this area with theft, vandalism and crime," she said.
"Something must be done.
"We hope to god this is not someone or a group of teens from the area as they will be in serious trouble if they are caught."
She said police had taken the bricks and note for forensics.
